Ghost Projects Exhibition

This exhibition showcases a collection of house designs that were conceived but never realized. Over a decade, from 2014 to 2024, Ryall Sheridan Carroll developed these projects, each embodying a unique expression of what a home could be.
Each design reflects a deep understanding of its intended inhabitants, tailored specifically to their lives. The houses are not merely structures but a response to the nuances of daily existence, capturing the aspirations and identities of those who would inhabit them. Each house relates specifically to its site: landscape, topography and geology.
When a house is built and lived in, it undergoes a transformation. It is not a static entity; rather, it evolves with its residents. Over time, it adapts to their rhythms and routines, creating a dynamic relationship between the space and its inhabitants. This interaction shapes their lives in subtle yet significant ways, turning the house into a canvas that reflects personal stories and experiences.
The reasons why some architectural projects remain unrealized are as varied as the designs themselves. However, these unrealized designs never truly vanish; they continue to inform Ryall Sheridan Carroll’s evolving approach to design. Elements from these projects will resurface in new contexts, adapting to different sites or reflecting the needs of new occupants.
We invite our visitors to consider the ongoing life of these designs. For one night only, we are reviving them, fostering a dialogue about the dreams and realities of architectural design. This exhibition is a consideration of potential; reminding us that even unbuilt spaces can inspire, provoke thought, and ignite the desire for what might have been.
